Fine Grain Supply

Art, Apparel, and Accessories

For Weirdos, Queers, Old Punks, Aging Skaters, Etc

Fine Grain Supply is where I, Shannon Palmer, a middle aged Gen X lady who “used to skate” shares my art, design, and handcrafted items. Inspired by the art of 80s skateboarding culture, old school tattoos, and punk flyers designed by the likes of Raymond Pettibon, I started Fine Grain as a place to sell all the weird stuff I like to make.

I’m primarily a photographer and printmaker who specializes in drypoint, DIY kitchen Lithography, linoleum and wood block printing, and well as wood engraving, screen printing, and monoprinting with gel plates. I also teach workshops for printmaking, and you can sign up for one of my upcoming classes here on the site.

As a member of the LGBT community, I also create a lot of queer themed art and design work. I’m pretty passionate about Queer Rights, and I use my skills as a designer to help people express themselves and how they feel about these issues. You can also check out my body of work, “Queering the Southern States,” which is a film photography series centered on the LGBTQ community here in my little corner of the South. This work has been collected in a book, and can be purchased here: Queering the Southern States Book

All items are designed and handmade in my studio, except the T-shirts, which are printed and shipped by a third party. On occasion, I’ll print up a batch of tees myself, either by screen printing them, or printing with a large hand cut block of wood, but for the most part I leave that to people who have a more large-scale shop to handle that sort of thing. Though I do make other screen printed items in the studio that sometimes end up in the shop. I make all the stickers, pins, jewelry, journals and logbooks, prints, cards, and so forth with my own hands, and send them out to your home!
